Cleansers, face wash, exfoliators, scrubs, masks...so many to choose from and "aren't they the same thing?" Well kind of, sometimes, yes, and no.
Cleanser = Face Wash
They are both the same thing just different names! They come in different forms such as a water-based gel or oil-based cream formulas and are used to remove the dirt, oil, makeup, and impurities from your skin. Both are applied and removed differently so it's important to follow the product directions or ask a professional how they recommend to use it. Avoid cleansers that double up as a "2-in-1" exfoliator because these can quickly dry and strip your skin of its natural barrier and cause your skin to peel.
Exfoliators = Scrubs
They are both the same thing just different names! Just like a cleanser, they can also come in different formulas, sometimes even loose power where you add water or a cleanser to it. Exfoliators use granules/beads to remove the dead skin off, leaving your skin smooth and bright. Make sure to read the ingredients to make sure the granules/beads are gentle; avoid walnut exfoliators since it can be too abrasive for the skin. They are not to be confused with a cleanser! Avoid exfoliators that are sold as an "everyday gentle exfoliator" as these can quickly strip your skin of its natural barrier and cause your skin to peel. Exfoliators should ideally only be used 1-2 times a week.
Masks
Masks also come in all formulas, colors, shapes, and sizes; every mask has a different function. They are widely recognized for removing impurities from your pores like clay masks and peel off masks. Sheet masks are also very popular and known for bringing hydration to the skin. I recommend to do a purifying mask after exfoliation since the dead skin is removed and access to the pores is easier.
INSTRUCTIONS
Cleanse using my Xochitl Beauty Cleanser for that gentle deep clean. It removes dirt, oil, and makeup! Massage onto dry skin and then wash away with water.
Exfoliate using my Xochitl Beauty Exfoliator to effectively remove dead skin. My exfoliator is creamy and uses tiny jojoba wax beads that are great for sensitive skin! Apply a nickel size amount and massage in small circular motions on freshly cleansed skin using light pressure for 30 seconds, always avoiding the eye area. Wash away with water.
Mask with Blissoma's Refine Clay Treatment to clear out those pores. Apply a thin layer on skin or troubled spots. Wait 10-15 minutes and wash away with water.
That concludes our skin cleaning session. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to post it below!
All the best, Ivonne
